Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic extended their winning streak to nine on Thursday at the Miami Open presented by Itau, where they advanced to the final after rallying past fifth seeds Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus 2-6, 7-6(4), 10-5.
The top seeds will next look to complete the 'Sunshine Double', having arrived in south Florida after winning a second ATP Masters 1000 title together in Indian Wells. Arevalo and Pavic did not drop a set all tournament in the California desert.
Boasting a 17-5 season record, the Salvadoran-Croatian pair will face sixth seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool in the championship match. Arevalo and Pavic are the joint No. 1s in the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings.
Britons Cash and Glasspool advanced after ousting second seeds Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten 7-6(7), 7-6(5). Cash and Glasspool converted their sixth set point in the opener to gain an advantage and won 83 per cent of their first-serve points, according to Infosys ATP Stats, to win a hard-fought battle against the Australian Open champions.
Cash and Glasspool have won three tour-level crowns together, including ATP 500 titles in Tokyo last year and Doha last month. They will seek their first ATP Masters 1000 trophy in Saturday's final.
