    • Born in a small town, Sangju, famous for dried persimmons.
    • Began playing tennis at age 10.
    • Father, Younghun, is a talented amateur tennis player; mother, Eunmi; sisters, Hakyung and Sookyung. Big sister, Hakyung, was 2015 Miss Korea (Gyeongbuk Province).
    • Favourite surface is hard and favourite shots are down-the-line forehand and drop shot.
    • Likes eating chocolate, but only on court to give him energy. Spotted eating Kit Kats during a match at 2020 US Open.
    • Wanted to be a football player until he started playing tennis.
    • Moved to Seoul at age 16, where he went to high school with fellow ATP player Duckhee Lee.
    • Enjoys going to the karaoke to sing with friends on his days off.

    • Achieved career-high No. 52 after winning 1st ATP Tour title in 1st final at 2021 Astana (d. Duckworth).
    • Added 2nd ATP Tour title at 2023 Adelaide-2 (d. Bautista Agut), becoming 1st Korean to win multiple titles and 1st LL to win a title since Cecchinato at 2018 Budapest.
    • Advanced to 2021 Eastbourne SF as LL by defeating Ivashka for 1st ATP Tour QF win in 8th attempt.
    • Defeated No. 13 Auger-Aliassime of eventual champion Canada for biggest win of career in 2022 Davis Cup Finals group match.
    • Went 35-14 at Challengers in 2019 with titles at Yokohama and Seoul, then captured 3rd Challenger title at 2021 Biella-2.
    • Played in Doha week of 20 February 2023 and was sidelined for 6 months with a shoulder injury before returning at US Open.
