Began playing tennis at age 10 and turned professional in 1984.
Played Davis Cup for his native Italy against Sweden in the first round
in 1987. He fell from a year-end best No. 65 in 1986 to 262 the following
year after compiling only a 5-18 match record.
Captured his only Grand Prix singles title at St. Vincent in 1986, his
best professional year when he earned a career-high $73,398.
Compiled only a 6-7 singles mark and ranked No. 166 in singles on the
ATP computer in 1989, but was 16-7 in doubles, winning titles at Bari and
San Marino with Claudio Mezzadri while finishing No. 76 in doubles.
