    At age 19 he decided to give the pro circuit a try and left the Univer-
    sity of Prague at the time when he was studying electrical engineering. He
    is the lone child in his family. His father is an electrical engineer in
    Prague.
    Earned $168,832 and finished a year-end best No. 41 in 1988 with a 31-23
    match record. Made a career-high $214,263 in 1987.
    Although he only compiled a 17-24 match record, the towering Czech
    finished at No. 97 in 1989, his fourth straight top 100 ranking on the ATP
    computer. He earned $144,244, his fourth straight $100,000-plus season.
