Began playing tennis at age 8 because his father used to play on the weekends.
Wife, Lucia; son, Marcelo Cristian; father, Rafael; mother, Sofia; brother, Rafael, is a former ATP player; sister, Ericka.
Idol growing up was Roger Federer, who defeated his brother in 2008 Beijing Olympics 2R.
Played college tennis at University of Tulsa for 2 seasons (2010-11).
Was unaware of becoming 1st Central American Grand Slam champion at 2022 Roland Garros. "I didn’t even know until later that I was the first one," says Arevalo. "I was just trying to win as many matches as possible. I had my goals clear and one of my main goals in life was to become a Grand Slam champion."
Favourite surface is hard, shot is forehand and tournament isWimbledon.
Enjoys racingcars and riding his motorcycle.
If he wasn't a tennis player, he would have liked to have been a race driver.

Achieved doubles career-high No. 5 in November2022 and captured personal-best 4 titles during season w/Rojer. Has compiled career 54-32 record together w/Rojer going into 2023 Roland Garros.
Saved 3 championship points vs. Dodig/Krajicek at 2022 Roland Garros w/Rojer to become 1st Central American man or woman to win a Grand Slam title.
Only titles entering 2022 season came at 2018 Los Cabos w/Reyes-Varela and 2021 Winston-Salem w/Middelkoop.
In mixed doubles debut, finished as 2021 US Open runner-up w/Olmos.
Played college tennis at University of Tulsa from 2010-11 and married Lucia Kovarcikova, a former Swiss player who competed at University of Utah from 2011-15.
