    • Began playing tennis at age 6.
    • Wife, Kelsey, played golf at University of Illinois; daughter, Keira.
    • Parents, Michael and Barbara, were engineers; brother, Gregory.
    • Played at University of Illinois for 3 seasons (2005-07). Won 2006 NCAA doubles title with Ryan Rowe. Reached 2007 NCAA singles SF, doubles final and team final. Earned All-American honours all 3 years.
    • Enjoys outdoor adventures, reading, playing guitar and racing sports cars.
    • Member of ATP Player Council from 2012-22. Served as president in 2020.
    • Recipient of 2019 Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award and 2020 ATP ACES for Charity grant to benefit First Serve.
    • Hosts an annual charity event that in 3 years has raised more than $200,000 for First Serve, Dezzy's Second Chance and Ocean Conservancy.
    • Previously partnered with Spark Ventures and helped empower children in Zambia.
    • Works to reduce plastic on tour. Inspired by documentary “Plastic Oceans."
    • During COVID-19 pandemic, teamed with Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehillin a Nintendo Mario Tennis tournament. Donated $25,000 to charity.
    • Struggled with series of injuries from 2016-19, including left knee, right shoulder and right elbow. Also underwent ankle surgery in March 2016 and right knee surgeriesin September 2019 and February 2020.

    • Seven-time ATP Tour champion achieved career-high No. 5 in 2018 and became top African in FedEx ATP Rankings history (since 1973).
    • In 2018, became 1st Nitto ATP Finals semi-finalist from Africa in tournament history (since 1970).
    • Advanced to 1st Grand Slam final at 2017 US Open as No. 32, becoming lowest-ranked US Open finalist in history and 1st African US Open finalist in Open Era.
    • Reached 2nd Grand Slam final at 2018 Wimbledon by beating Isner 26-24 in 5th and 8-time champion Federer 13-11 in 5th (saved 1 MP).
    • Works to reduce plastic use on tour and received 2019 Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award after raising more than $200,000 for First Serve, Dezzy's Second Chance and Ocean Conservancy.
