    • Nickname is Jerry after the cartoon character. "Tom and Jerry has been around for a long time and I’d say that was my favourite show," says Shang. "I think my parents would like me to be as smart as the mouse Jerry."
    • Father, Yi, was a professional football player; mother, Na, was a world champion table tennis player.
    • Started playing tennis at age 5 because his parents thought tennis would suit him well.
    • Favourite shot is forehand, surface is clay and tournament is Roland Garros.
    • Idols growing up were Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
    • Also enjoys golf and running.
    • Says that he would probably be a golfer if he wasn't a tennis player.

    • Earned biggest wins over career over No. 16 Tiafoe to reach 1st ATP Tour SF in Hong Kong and No. 14 Shelton en route to 2nd SF at 2024 Atlanta.
    • Reached 1st Grand Slam 3R at 2024 Australian Open and became the first Chinese man in 3R of that event in Open Era.
    • Made ATP Tour debut at 2022 Rio de Janeiro as a WC, before earning 1st tour-level win at 2023 Australian Open, beating Otte in 1R as Q (l. to Tiafoe in 2R).
