Began playing tennis at age 7.
Named and baptised in honour of legendary Argentinefootball player Diego Maradona, who passed away in 2020.
Father, Ricardo; mother, Silvana; brothers, Andres and Matias; sister, Natali.
Family owns a clothing company and helped him sell rubber bracelets with logos of popular football teams to help pay for travel expenses.
Started travelling alone to international tournaments at age 13.
At age 15, practised with former World No. 10 Juan Monaco and Maximo Gonzalez, who served as his mentors.
Favourite surface is clay, shot is backhand and tournament is Buenos Aires.
Idols growing up were Rafael Nadal and football player Juan Roman Riquelme.
Routine before a match is to warm-up, eat a long meal, listen to music and relax.
Enjoys playing football, watching Boca Juniors, listening to reggaeton music and eating Argentinean BBQ with friends.
During COVID-19 pandemic, enjoyed cooking, playing with his dogs and watching TVon his sofa.
Also during COVID-19 pandemic, teamed with Argentine football player Paulo Dybala and organised FIFA 20 celebrity tournament to raise money forRed Cross Argentina.
Favourite movie is Gladiator and musicianis La Vela Puerca, a Uruguayan rock band.
Says that his biggest weakness is sweets (chocolate), best quality is perseverance and worst quality is annoyance.
