Carlos Alcaraz could enjoy a double-reward if he lifts the title at the Miami Open presented by Itau.
As well as reclaiming the ATP Masters 1000 title he first won in 2022, the 21-year-old Spaniard would also enjoy a significant boost in PIF ATP Rankings points by triumphing at Hard Rock Stadium. Alcaraz can increase his tally to 7,710 points with a title run, which may even be enough for the Spaniard to return to World No. 2 for the first time in more than four months — but only if Alexander Zverev falls before the quarter-final stage.
The top-seeded Zverev, who is aiming to rediscover his best level after going 4-4 since reaching January’s Australian Open final, has been the World No. 2 since 4 November, the day after he triumphed at the Rolex Paris Masters. If Alcaraz does not win the Miami title, Zverev will remain World No. 2 for the week beginning 31 March, regardless of how the German performs in Florida.

Meanwhile, BNP Paribas Open champion Jack Draper has the opportunity to quickly follow his Top 10 debut by breaking into the Top 5 for the first time. The Briton begins his Miami campaign as No. 6 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, just 90 points shy of fifth-ranked Novak Djokovic.
There will also be plenty of Top 20 stars aiming to capitalise on the plentiful PIF ATP Rankings points on offer in South Florida. Every player from No. 11 to No. 19 in the current standings has a mathematical possibility of entering the Top 10 after Miami, although only Holger Rune, Alex de Minaur, Tommy Paul and Ben Shelton can do so without lifting the trophy.
