Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz grew up close to the host site of the Murcia Challenger and in 2023, he visited the Real Murcia Club De Tenis-1919 as a spectator. The inaugural edition, held in 2019, marked a memorable year, besides the launch of a new tournament. A 15-year-old Alcaraz, then World No. 597, was competing in his second Challenger tournament. Murcia native and former Top 10 star Nicolas Almagro played in his last professional tournament that same week, which featured packed crowds from the first ball to last.
