A New Era Of Portuguese Tennis In 2017, Portugal returned to the ATP Challenger Tour for the first time in five years, with the European nation's capital of Lisbon hosting a clay-court event. Now, the country has welcomed a full slate of Challenger events to the year-long calendar. Lisbon is joined by tournaments in Oeiras, Porto and Braga, with the latter celebrating its third edition in 2021. The Braga Open has featured two home-grown players as its champions in years past, with Pedro Sousa and Joao Domingues lifting the trophy in front of the Portuguese faithful.
