Coaching Career Highlights
- Won Coach of the Year in the 2024 ATP Awards for his work with Taylor Fritz.
- Helped guide Fritz to the US Open final and the Nitto ATP Finals title match in 2024.
- Helped Fritz become the first American since 2006 to finish the season in the Top 5 in the PIF ATP Rankings. Fritz reached a career-high No. 4 in November 2024.
- Russell started coaching Fritz in 2021, also helping guide the American to his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells in 2022.
- Started coaching Mackenzie McDonald in 2019, helping him reach the semi-finals at the Delray Beach Open, where he earned his first Top 10 win against Juan Martin del Potro, and a career-high ranking of World No. 57 in the FedEx ATP Rankings.
- Started coaching Tennys Sandgren in 2019, helping him reach the third round at the US Open. In 2020, the American reached the quarter-finals at the Australian Open, defeating players such as Matteo Berrettini, Sam Querrey and Fabio Fognini.
- Coached Ryan Harrison in 2018, helping him reach the final at the Brisbane International and the third round at the Australian Open.
- Coached Frances Tiafoe in 2017, helping the American reach a career-high ranking at the time while earning his first Top 10 win against Alexander Zverev.
- Has coached Steve Johnson, Taylor Fritz and Sam Querrey through the USTA.
